A cookie is a small amount of information that’s downloaded to your computer or device when you visit certain websites.
Some cookies are necessary to allow you to browse our website, use its features, and access secure areas. The use of these cookies is essential for the website to work. For example, we use user-input cookies for the duration of a session to keep track of a user’s input when filling in forms that span several pages.
We also use functional cookies to remember choices you’ve made or information you’ve provided, such as your username, language, or the region you are in. This allows us to tailor your website experience specifically to your preferences.
We use a number of different cookies on the Five Other Things website, including strictly necessary, performance, advertising, and social media or content cookies. Cookies make your browsing experience better by allowing the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login and region selection). This means you don’t have to re-enter this information each time you return to the site or browse from one page to another. Cookies also provide information on how people use the website, for instance whether it’s their first time visiting or if they are a frequent visitor.
When you fill in a contact form or email request submission on our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, address and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.
We collect such Non-personal and Personal Information for the following purposes:
To provide and operate the Services;
To provide our Users with ongoing customer assistance and technical support;
To be able to contact our Visitors and Users with general or personalised service-related notices and promotional messages;
To create aggregated statistical data and other aggregated and/or inferred Non-personal Information, which we or our business partners may use to provide and improve our respective services;
To comply with any applicable laws and regulations.
If you sign up to our email mailings list, we request your email address and your name, so that we can say hi in a nice informal fashion. We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to deliver our email newsletter and email addresses and first names are stored within their GDRP compliant systems. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy notice. You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not share this data with any other organisation, ever.
We may contact you via email for the purposes of sending the Five Other Things Daily email, or by email or telephone if you are a supplier of content, or as otherwise necessary to contact you to enforce our User Agreement, applicable national laws, and any agreement we may have with you.
If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.
Five Other Things retains your personal information only for the duration you choose to remain on our email marketing list. I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal obligations for up to 7 years.
